The US Senate has unveiled its version of the stimulus package. Like the House package, the Senate prioritizes students attending college as an important element of economic recovery. Inside Higher Education compares the packages for higher education. The Senate provides new money in the Perkins Loan program, but not Federal Work Study or the unsubsidized loan program. Today’s students are the future of our country. They are the people who will be expected to pay back all this debt we are racking up. Might as well give them a hand getting their degrees so they will be better able to afford paying back $787 Billion.
