Interim President Thayne McCulloh has taken the helm at Gonzaga University. Dr. McCulloh replaces Fr. Robert Spitzer, S.J., who announced plans to step down last year to do more writing and run the Magis Institute and the Spitzer Center for Ethical Leadership. There’s a story about the transition on the Gonzaga Web site and a brief in today’s Spokesman-Review.
McCulloh also joins the board of directors of Independent Colleges of Washington, where he will team with the presidents of our nine other member colleges and more than two dozen corporate and community leaders in setting the direction for the association. McCulloh is not new to ICW, though. His previous work in financial aid, as Vice President of Administration and as Interim Academic Vice President, connected him to ICW on many critical issues. In fact, he’s currently representing ICW colleges on the Higher Education Coordinating Board’s System Design Study.
Best of luck to Father Spitzer in his new adventures, and welcome to Dr. McCulloh. Below is a video of his welcome to the Gonzaga community.
