President, Whitman College

Bridges joined Whitman on July 1, 2005 as the 13th president. Previously, he was appointed dean of undergraduate education and vice provost of undergraduate education at the University of Washington. He is also professor of sociology with particular interst in problems of racial and ethnic minorities in the juvenile justice system. George is a Seattle native and UW alum, with graduate degrees from University of Pennsylvania.
