Father Spitzer has been president of Gonzaga University since 1998. Before coming to Gonzaga, he served Seattle University for eight years and was tenured as associate professor of ethics. Prior to joining Seattle University, Spitzer spent seven years as an instructor and assistant professor at Georgetown University. He received his B.B.A. from Gonzaga University, his M.A. in philosophy from Saint Louis University, his M.Div. in theology from Gregorian University in Rome, his Th.M. in scripture from the Weston School (Cambridge) and his Ph.D. in philosophy from the Catholic University of America.
