Principal and Chief Operating Officer, Lorig Associates, L.L.C.
Tom Fitzsimmons is principal and chief operating officer with Lorig Associates, L.L.C., a position he assumed in December 2007. In this role, Fitzsimmons is charged with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company and providing overall administrative, operational and executive leadership on behalf of the partners. Before joining Lorig, Fitzsimmons served as chief of staff for Governor Christine Gregoire and former Governor Gary Locke. Fitzsimmons, who has 27 years of executive management experience in local and state government, also has served as director of the Washington State Department of Ecology, where he managed more than 1,500 employees and a $650 million biennial budget, as county administrator for Thurston County , and as an assistant to the King County executive. He has also owned and managed his own consulting firm. Fitzsimmons earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and a master’s in public administration at Seattle University .
