How to Give

Through ICW, you have the power to help more than 33,000 deserving students at 10 high-quality institutions with a single donation. We encourage donors to support all 10 member colleges; it is possible, however, to allocate money to two or more colleges of your choice.

You can contribute to ICW directly with your credit card.

Corporations, companies, foundations, and individuals can support Washington's independent colleges by providing:

General Scholarship Support
Unless otherwise designated, funds go to financial aid at the colleges, distributed according to an enrollment-based formula.

ICW's Access to a College Education (ACE) Scholarship
The Access to a College Education scholarship helps the neediest segment of the student population. On average, students whose families are unable to contribute financially to their college education will face a gap of $6,000 after all their additional aid. The ACE scholarship distributes $6,000 to these students every year for up to four years.

ICW "Shared" Scholarship Fund
These funds help ensure the benefits of an independent liberal arts education are available to men and women for whom the cost of college would otherwise be out of reach. Scholarships from this fund are awarded to students with the following majors:

  • Biology and Environmental Studies
  • Business and Economics
  • Math
  • Nursing and Health Sciences
  • Science

Criteria for each is financial need, approprite declared major (most likely a junior or senior), and a minimum 2.5 GPA. Contributions in a single fund must reach $10,000 before funds can be distributed. Colleges select appropriate recipients based on criteria.

Named Scholarships
Donors may choose to create scholarships in their name for a minimum investment of $10,000.

Endowed Scholarships
A minimum donation of $20,000 will generate resources to fund a $1,000 competitive scholarship each year.

In-Kind Gifts
Donations of equipment, materials, or services appropriate to higher education save the colleges resources they can redirect to financial aid.

Planned Gifts
Gifts through trusts or estate provisions can create resources for financial aid at the colleges.

To make a real difference in Washington's future, contact the ICW Development Office for details. ICW is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and gifts are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.
